ENGAGING.
BLUES.
Blending classic blues with boogie-woogie rhythms, One Ton of Blues brings together two frontmen from their respective projects, Kevin Mark on guitar and Big Time Lew on piano, both sharing lead vocals.
The band unites Kevin’s raw guitar tone with Lew’s vibrant keyboard style, forging a sound firmly rooted in tradition with a refined, dynamic edge.
KEVIN MARK
Guitar, Vocals, Foot Percussion
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Kevin Mark delivers raw blues energy rooted in the classic sounds that first inspired him. His guitar style grew out of an early fascination with the expressive phrasing of B.B. King and deepened through a lifelong appreciation of the great blues masters of the 1950s and ’60s. The result is a distinctive approach that blends tradition with personality, carried by a powerful, natural voice and an unmistakable stage presence that connects immediately with audiences.
Over the years, Kevin has brought his blues-driven performances to major festivals throughout Quebec, Ontario, the Maritimes, and France, building an international reputation along the way. His work has earned numerous honours, including a Maple Blues Award, the CBC Galaxy Rising Star Award, and first place in the Toronto Blues Society’s National Talent Search. In Quebec, he has also received multiple Lys Blues Awards, including four wins for Best Live Act and Male Blues Artist of the Year.
His recordings reflect the same authentic spirit that defines his live performances. Rolling The Dice, produced by Canadian blues legend and Juno Award winner Jack de Keyzer and recorded live off the floor at Toronto’s Liquid Studio by Alec Fraser, captured that energy and was voted Album of the Year at the 2005 Quebec Lys Blues Awards. His follow-up release, Cuttin’ Loose, recorded at Kevin’s Hideaway Studio, reached listeners well beyond Canada, spending two months at the top of the blues charts in France.
His new EP, Lefty’s Back, arrives summer 2006.
